Physics Department

About the Department
The Department of Physics attained its present status of independent department in
January 2009. The department has started M.Sc. in Physics from the session 2009-
2010. Department has well equipped Laboratory for doing experimentation at
B.Tech. , B.Sc., M.Sc. Level. The up-gradation of the department laboratory is
being done from time to time as per the recent advances and development in the
concerned area. Further the department has proposed four specialization courses in
master degree: “Condensed Matter Physics, Nuclear Physics, Spectroscopy and
Electronics” from the session 2012-13. The department has five research
laboratories: Hydrogen energy, Materials Characterization, Nano-particle
Synthesis, Theoretical (Nuclear) and XRD research laboratories funded by
various funding agencies like UGC, DAE, DRDO, AICTE, DST etc., which are
being developed as per the latest development in the respective fields. Various
research projects sanctioned by different research agencies like UGC, DAE,
DRDO, AICTE, DST and CSIR are being carried out in the department. Some
major equipments such as X-Ray, Diffractometer, Thermal & Electron Beam
coating Unit, R.F Induction Furnace, DTA, ac/dc conductivity setup, magnetic
susceptibility setup etc. are available in the department for PG and research
studies.
Department is also managing a solar energy test centre sponsored by MNRE:
MNRE Renewable energy test centre from 2012.
From the session 2017-18, Department has started Dual Degree Programme- Dual
Degree B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics- M.Sc. Physics with the intake of 30.

The vision of the department is not only to transform young people to competent
and motivated professionals but also to contribute to the development of the nation
through research, consultancy and training.
The mission of the department is to create and disseminate knowledge and tools in
intellectual areas at the interfaces between the engineering and physical sciences.
The Department creates knowledge and tools through the excellence in various
research fields.
