Department of Humanities with an interdisciplinary academic thrust that fosters holistic, humanistic values and enquiry, is unique in the sense that it not only has a distinct identity of its own as an independent department but also provides academic inputs and services to other departments of the University. The department works on the principle of integrating knowledge and humanity. Its objective is to inculcate the very simple yet very important characteristics of sensibility and sensitivity among its students and help them grow into true human beings in increasingly mechanized society. The department has been offering 2 year degree programme of M.A. English and 1 year certificate courses in foreign languages. While as service department it has been offering various courses in English, Communication Skills, Report Writing and Oral Presenttaion to the undergraduate and postgraduate engineering, science and management students since the time DCRUST was a state engineering college. From the academic session 2020-21, the department starts a new programme – 5 year Dual Degree B.A. ( Hons.) –M.A. English programme.
The department of Humanities is committed to teach and train students in all aspects of English language and Literature. The department has one state of the art ‘Language Lab’ with the latest requisite software and course modules. The department also has a ‘Media and Communication Lab’.

Envisioned as comprehensive programmes – M.A. English and B.A. (Hons.) – M.A. English (5 year Dual Degree) equip and enable students to face professional challenges with vision and courage. The programmes are application-oriented and having UGC NET-specific curricula taught through interactive pedagogy with focus on training in seminar, oral and non-verbal skills. A perfect blend of conventional classroom teaching with chalk and talk method and state-of-the-art technological aids such as Language Lab Software targets holistic development of personal, professional and social persona of the student.
